Established in 2007 as the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of MTN Ghana, the MTN Ghana Foundation drives impactful community development through interventions in three focus areas:

The Bright Scholarship scheme is a flagship initiative under the Education pillar, designed to remove financial barriers and foster academic excellence among deserving Ghanaian students.

Coverage and Benefits

Selected scholars receive comprehensive financial coverage for the entire duration of their studies:

  • Full Tuition Fees: Direct payment of all academic facility user fees.

  • Accommodation Allowance: Provision for campus housing or residential fees.

  • Stipend Support: Regular living allowance for daily sustenance.

  • Book & Study Materials: Financial support for required textbooks and learning tools.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to Ghanaian citizens enrolled or admitted into accredited tertiary institutions in Ghana. Eligibility requirements are divided into two categories:

1. Requirements for First-Year Students (Freshmen)

  • Must hold credit passes in six (6) subjects in WASSCE or SSSCE.

  • Must achieve an overall aggregate score of 24 or better.

  • Must pass three (3) core subjects: English Language, Core Mathematics, and either Integrated Science or Social Studies.

  • Must pass three (3) elective subjects relevant to your chosen field of study.

Grade Standard Key:

  • WASSCE: Credit pass refers to grades A1 to C6.

  • SSSCE: Credit pass refers to grades A to D.

2. Requirements for Continuing Students

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited tertiary institution in Ghana.

  • Must maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (or equivalent 2nd Class Upper division).

  • Must demonstrate active participation in extracurricular activities.

  • Must hold a good disciplinary record with no active academic or conduct bonds.

  • Students hailing from newly created regions: Bono East, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, Western North, and Oti.
